Home energy Scotland grant and loan scheme

The Home Energy Scotland Grant and Loan is a government-funded program that aims to help homeowners in Scotland make their homes more energy-efficient.

What is the home energy Scotland grant and loan?

The Home Energy Scotland Grant and Loan is a government-funded initiative that aims to help households in Scotland become more energy-efficient. It was launched by the Scottish Government in collaboration with Energy Saving Trust, an independent organisation that provides free and impartial advice on how to save energy.

The Home Energy Scotland Grant and Loan scheme offers both grant funding and interest-free loans to eligible households. These can be used to make energy-saving improvements to homes, such as insulation or heating upgrades.

How does the grant work and interest-free loan?

The Home Energy Scotland Grant and Loan Scheme provides support to homeowners and self-builders in Scotland by offering grants, interest-free loans, or a combination of both for the implementation of clean heating systems and energy efficiency measures. Grant funding of up to £7,500 is accessible for clean heating systems, with an additional optional interest-free loan of £7,500.

Similarly, for energy efficiency measures like insulation, grant funding covers up to 75% of the combined cost, with a maximum grant amount of £7,500, and an optional interest-free loan of £7,500. Rural and island homes qualify for an uplift of £1,500 for both clean heating and energy efficiency grants, allowing rural households to claim up to £18,000 in grant funding. The loan is repayable over a period of up to 12 years, with monthly instalments added to your electricity bill.

The Home Energy Scotland Grant and Loan covers a wide range of energy-saving measures, such as insulation, heating upgrades, and renewable technologies. This includes, but is not limited to:
