Who is Eligible for the Home Upgrade Grant?
The Home Upgrade Grant (HUG) is available to households in England that meet certain criteria.
To be eligible, you must be a low-income household, off the gas grid, and have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) between D and G.
If you meet these criteria, you may be eligible for the Home Upgrade Grant.
What Does the Home Upgrade Grant Provide?
The Home Upgrade Grant provides funding for Solar Panels, Insulation, Air Source Heat Pumps, Boiler Upgrades, Energy Efficient Lighting and Storage Heaters.
With the Home Upgrade Grant, you can upgrade your home and reduce your energy bills while helping to protect the environment.
The grant can also help you to make your home more energy efficient and reduce your reliance on fossil fuels.

Who is eligible for the fully funded measures?
To receive free funding you must be the recipient of one of the following benefits:
- Child Tax Credit
- Income Support
- Income-based jobseeker’s allowance (JSA)
- Income-related employment and support allowance (ESA)
- Pension Credit Guarantee Credit Element
- Personal independence payment
- Universal Credit
- Working tax credit
- Child benefit dependant on income & dependants

Your home has an EPC rating of E, F or G (limited funding is available for EPC D rated properties)
Off mains gas
You have a total household annual income of £30,000 or less (before housing costs/bills)
Or:
You receive a means-tested benefit (please see above)
