Roof & Loft Insulation

Loft or roof insulation acts as a barrier of material within your roof space. Insulation of this type can be laid between the rafters of the roof or laid between the joists. Having roof and loft insulation will slow down the transfer of heat between your living space and the outside.

Having loft or roof insulation will create a warmer home in the winter and a cooler home during the summer. By having insulation installed between the joists of the floor this will allow your living spaces to harness the warmth.

Why is loft insulation needed?

Over a quarter of heat is lost through the roof in uninsulated homes. Fitting insulation in your attic, loft or roof space is an incredibly efficient way to improve your homes insulation factors. Insulation within the roof space can last more than 40 years and should therefore pay for itself many times over through the savings achieved in energy bills in the future.

Having roof or loft insulation installed within the property also reduces your homes carbon footprint. This is due to the fact that the better insulated your home is, the more heat you can keep within the property meaning your heating system will become more efficient by using less heat overall to heat the entire property. This reduces your heating systems emissions and more importantly, reduces your heating bills.

Can I qualify for a roof and loft insulation grant?

Yes, with the government’s ECO Scheme you can get cavity wall insulation and loft insulation for free if you’re eligible to improve your home’s energy efficiency. The long-running Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme helps people on certain benefits to cut their energy costs through home improvements.

Loft insulation costs and savings

I’ve converted my loft to living space. How do I insulate it?

If you are using the loft space in your house as a bedroom, games room or a study you will want to keep it as warm as the rest of your house. If you are using the loft space then insulating the attic floor will render useless as this will stop the heat transferring through the attic floor and will cause your loft to become cold. Instead, you need to insulate the roof and the usual way to do this is by inserting insulation boards between the rafters of the roof.

I had boiler replaced two weeks ago , everything went smoothly as I have been expecting, engineers came on site spot on time everything boiler is working good , place left tidy , i am impressed with Company Warma , definitely would give 5 star

Don’t often do reviews but felt this warranted one. A little slow getting the fitting date sorted out but once this had been sorted everything was plain sailing from start to finish. Can’t fault the engineer who fitted my combi boiler. Nothing was to much trouble to him, explained everything has he went along. Would recommend without hesitation.

The old boiler and tank were removed and the new condensing boiler fitted by the two installers from XL Heating. They were friendly, informative and tidy, working well as a team for two days.
So far very happy.
