What is the RHI scheme?
One great government scheme that was introduced to support households that install renewable heating systems is the Renewable Heating Incentive (RHI) scheme. This covers houses that use heat pumps and wood boilers for their heating and means that if you are eligible for the grant you could benefit from quarterly payments made in return for making smart, green energy choices in your home. The payments are made for several years and are scaled depending on how much energy your systems produce. The domestic RHI scheme is for those with a renewable heating system for one home only, and it supports five renewable technologies; namely wood boilers, ground source heat pumps, air source heat pumps, solar water heating and wood pellet stoves that utilise a back boiler.
There are some restrictions and rules that need to be followed in order to benefit from the RHI scheme.
